The Nova Scotia Hummingbird/WinterBirds webcam was set up in August 2012.
I had set up a hummingbird feeder and was astonished at how many birds that began to visit. Wanting to share my joy of the birds with others who aren't as lucky as me to see them in person, I started boradcasting!
After the hummingbirds had set off on their annual migration back to the southern states, I decided to set up the WinterBirds cam. This cam provides a view of our native birds that stick around all year long. You'll also commonly see mammals such as chipmunks, Scramble the squirrel and even an English Setter named Rufus.
Thanks and greetings from Wales, I've visited Nova Scotia twice in the past few years and loved it there.
ReplyDeleteI've just discovered your site. How lovely! It's a very clear and colourful picture, and those chickadees are voracious. I love your funny owl.
ReplyDeleteLove looking at your Cam, wonderful,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year from Norfolk, U.K.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the cam and leave your comments. I am glad that so many people enjoy watching the birds as I do :)
ReplyDeleteHungry little 'chocladees' say "hurry back from work and give us a refill!"
ReplyDeleteHello from the wet coast.
ReplyDeleteYou've got show eh? We might yet, this is still part of Canada!
Nice to see your birds on cam.
Here's something to whet your whistle til your wee ones return. They stay here snow or not, our resident Anna's .

OOPS! I should have said that here is in BC Vancouver Island's east coast about 1/2 way.
ReplyDeleteDana
Wow Dana, that's impressive that they stick around, even during snow. I wonder if Ruby's are capable of that?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the video! I have never heard a hummingbird sing like that...just heard little chirps!
Hope you enjoy the cam, and thanks for stopping by!
We don't get the Rubies here but the Rufous do visit me as well and Blackchins and Calliopes are visitors in other locations here. They are about to arrive. Everything is a bit early this year and the Rufous have been spotted in Washington State already, a month early! They always arrive as soon as the wild currant blooms - any day now.
ReplyDeleteThe Anna's are the only hummies who sing and as you can hear it is not much of a song but outstanding when it is the only bird heard at dawn summer mornings when other birds have gone elsewhere. Very cheery in the dark days of winter.
Here's a site that has visitors from all over, including Ruby territory.
